  • Condition: Found at a local estate sale, so I know nothing of their history. The Norma is in excellent condition - it still contains all 4 color leads (amount unknown) and it works perfectly. Its only flaw is that the eraser has been broken off. The Wearever is in great cosmetic condition, with minor rubs consistent with age and gentle handling. All 3 ink cartridges are empty or dried up, but each one can be propelled as intended. Please use pictures to see condition for yourself.

    Description

    Offering this vintage
    4-color, unbranded mechanical pencil, made in Germany.  This was
    f
    ound at a local estate sale, so its history is unknown.
    The movable fluted barrel has a small dent, and a conspicuous scratch near the point section.  The end cap has some minor dents, but otherwise, its cosmetic condition is quite nice - and ornate.  The eraser is quite hard and probably of no use.
    Its operation is a bit unusual.

    : You extend the small fluted barrel out.

    : Then,
    using a small open slot exposed by this action, you
    select the desired color.

    : That open slot is then rotated to place it in front of a tiny raised point on the outer barrel.  The raised point is obviously the opposing end of a projection on the inside.

    : You then slide the small fluted barrel back into the larger barrel.  The internal projection prevents the selected
    tube
    of lead from returning to the main barrel, in effect allowing it to extend to the tip of the pencil.
    With all of that, I'm still not sure how the lead is loaded or propelled within the individual tubes.  It looks like the tubes may still contain lead, but none is out where it can be used.   I
    believe
    the lead size is 1.1 mm, but I'm not positive.
